    Abstract

The first edition was published in 1979 (Geo Abstracts, 80D/3672). The new edition brings the history of human geography up-to-date. The incorporation of new material, especially in the chapters on behavioural, humanistic, and radical movements, has led to a considerable increase in the bibliographic coverage. Other chapters have been revised, and substantial changes made in the first and last chapters, in the context of models of progress in academic disciplines.-J.Sheail
