Abstract
Global tourism grew by a healthy 5% in 2013, reaching a record 1,087 million international arrivals. This growth occurred against ongoing economic uncertainty in the USA and Europe - two of the world's largest tourism markets. In total, there were 52 million additional international tourists in 2013. The WTO forecasts growth of 4-5% in 2014 which is above the organisation's long-term forecast of +3.8% per year between 2010 and 2020.
