Abstract

(Figure Presented) Gold member: The last of the simple metal coordination geometries (linear) joins the family of metal-ligand arrangements that have been used to template the formation of mechanical bonds. Both catenanes and rotaxanes are assembled about a gold(I) template. The picture shows the molecular structure of the gold(I) catenate, viewed parallel to its N-Au-N bond.
