    Abstract

The 56 papers (abstracted separately) are presented in three sections covering the assembly, evolution and dispersal, respectively, of Gondwanaland. In the first section the late Proterozoic-early Palaeozoic mobile belts of Gondwana are introduced in a sequence of papers covering South America, Africa and Australo-Antarctica. The section on evolution describes palynological and palaeontological research of late Palaeozoic-Mesozoic times, palaeoclimatology and basin evolution. The final section includes a new approach to predicting past plate motions followed by several papers covering the break-up history of Gondwana.
