Abstract

This article determines what the tomb scenes, ceramic assemblage and mortuary texts discovered in the burial chamber reveal about the local governor Baqet II (BH 33). Presented here for the first time, this evidence sheds new light on funerary practices during the turbulent early Middle Kingdom (c. 2055-1650 BCE)
