    Abstract

    An Early Greek presence in Australia occurred during the opening decades of the 1800s – both convict and 'free'. John Peters (Ioannis Iakoumis) who arrived in the 1830s was one of the earliest 'free' Greek settlers. An insight is provided into his migration, settlement and his descendants.
