    Abstract

The story of Australia's Greek presence is not simply one of migration, but, perhaps even more importantly, one of settlement. Chain migration from particular areas in Greece tended to create regional concentrations in certain Australian centres or geographical areas. For the Aslanis family who were from Kos, settlement in Newcastle was in stark contrast to the dominant early Ithacan and Arcadian concentration.
