Abstract
A significant number of Australians of Greek heritage have contributed to the nation’s artistic endeavours. During the later part of the 20th century, painter Vicki Varvaressos emerged as an artist of bold stature, not simply through style, but also themes embraced. This essay foccusses upon her socio-cultural struggles, her aesthetic development and her personal, generational sense of identity.
