    Abstract

    Yb:Ca4YO(BO3)3 (Yb:YCOB) crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The polarization absorption and fluorescence spectra were measured. The Stark energy level was determined based on the absorption and fluorescence spectra. When pumped by a laser diode (LD) at 976.4 nm, the output laser at 1032 nm was demonstrated.
