Abstract

This paper addresses the critical responses by Guglielmino (1989), Long (1989), and McCune (1989) to my earlier paper (Field, 1989) questioning the structure, validity, and reliability of the SDLRS. In this response, I review the evidence for the claims I proposed in my earlier criticism of the SDLRS, consider the evidence that Guglielmino, Long, and McCune present, and conclude that the SDLRS does not measure readiness for self-directed learning.
