Abstract
Great news that the WA government is moving to close a legal loophole that left traditional owners powerless to stop Rio Tinto’s destruction of Juukan Gorge and introducing hefty fines for damaging heritage sites (“WA laws to close Juukan loophole,” September 2).
But we need to do more by changing the way investors rate a company.
Introducing cultural artefacts into the environmental, social and governance scoring system used by the finance sector will go some way in forcing publicly listed and large private companies to behave better.
