High power and highly efficient mid-infrared fiber lasers

Abstract

We review our recent work in the area of high power 2 μm and 3 μm fiber laser development. We present the recent results of our highly efficient directly diode-pumped Tm3+-doped silica and Ho3+-doped silica fiber lasers, passively switched 2μm fiber lasers, and discrete wavelength generation. We also present results from our recent Raman fiber laser experiments using chalcogenide fibers.
