Abstract

The histopathology of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) embolised with cyanocrylate in 21 patients was available for study. Histotoxicity of cyanoacrylate had been implicated as the cause of angionecrosis as well as parenchymal necrosis. This study suggests that another mechanism, namely ischaemia, could explain all these changes.
