Australia's current 'History Wars' raise questions about what happened in the past - these questions have special significance for the law - libel case regarding Holocaust denial, Irving v Lipstadt - possibility of a defamation action in the History Wars - how history and historians are subjected to legal judgment - use and misuse of postmodernism and relativism - role of law and legal judgment in the transmission and construction of national memory.
