Abstract

Describes a mode matching approach of analysing array mutual coupling where the fields in both the circular waveguide apertures and the fields in the interstice of the non-contacting horns are represented as a sum of modes. The approach is due to Bird (see IEE Conf. Antennas Propag. ICAP, p.849, 1991 and IEE J. Microwaves Opt. Acoust., p.172, 1979) with an extension to include the modes of the multiconductor transmission line formed by the exterior surfaces of the horns. It is outlined, and some illustrative results are presented.
