Abstract

A structured finite ground plane to improve radiation pattern of arrayed monopoles is investigated. The structure introduced is formed by evenly spaced conducting circular rings surrounding the normal circular finite ground plane. We perform simulations of individual and arrayed monopoles in the presence of traditional continuous finite ground plane and the structured finite ground (RGP) plane. As a results of these investigations, we draw conclusions with regard to the optimal dimensions of RGP.
