Abstract

An improved rear-radiating coaxial waveguide feed is described with application to small compact antennas. The antenna feed comprises a coaxial waveguide radiator with a center conductor extending to the reflector vertex. A coaxial waveguide operating in the TE//1 //1 mode is excited by circular waveguide. The radiation pattern is modified by adjusting the length of the cup rim, or by using a coaxial slot. The various regions may be dielectric-loaded, providing increased design flexibility as well as mechanical support for the cup.
