Abstract

The fracture toughness properties of epoxy containing aligned and randomly dispersed carbon reinforcement at multiple length scale were investigated. The through-the-thickness alignment of carbon nanofibres (CNF) and short carbon fibres(SCF) in epoxy further yielded to a greater than additive improvement in the mode fracture toughness of epoxy by 1600%.
