Abstract

Thank you for the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed changes to the Lancet Planetary Health Countdown Indicator: Healthcare GHG emissions (3.6). The carbon footprint of healthcare systems and dual impacts on human health and health systems sustainability is an area of ongoing research and interest for both the Australian Institute of Heath Innovation (AIHI) and the NHRMC Partnership Centre for Health System Sustainability (PCHSS). We have provided our thoughts on the Indicators using the Quality Improvement Process prompts nominated the in The Lancet Existing Indicator White Paper.
