Abstract

This Symposium brings together original work in entrepreneurial and industrial dynamics, organized around the contributions over a 20-year period of the Swedish scholars Bo Carlsson and Gunnar Eliasson. The Symposium was staged on 24 October 2002 at the Skaga Hotel in northern Denmark. Carlsson and Eliasson have coined the concept of the Experimentally Organized Economy (EOE) as a disequilibrium-based alternative to the conventional neoclassical Walras-Arrow-Debreu (WAD) framework with its strict assumptions of rationality, optimization and equilibrium. Carlsson and Eliasson, and the contributors to the Symposium, share the conviction that entrepreneurial and industrial dynamics need to be placed on an alternative footing to that of WAD and equilibrium-based analysis, and the contributions to the Symposium offer first steps towards such a goal.
