Abstract

This Introduction is a substantial scholarly contribution to the book in its own right. It is a philosophical explication of 'theory' and the way it is used in the Arts. It references schoalrly work within the field of philosophy and cultural studies, and uses critical theory and philosophical analysis as its primary methodology. It also is substantial in terms of length (approximately 6000 words).
