This paper presents an investigation into the role of Fisher's Separation Theorem in the postclassical Impatience Theory of Interest. Antecedents, origins, motivations and intentions that underpinned conception of the theory are sketched. Essential aspects of Fisher's peers' published criticisms are summarised. Against this backdrop, the Separation Theorem's role at the core of the theory is outlined. Its dual function in the second approximation highlighted.
