Abstract

Summary: Although two population-based studies have demonstrated the prognostic value of day-to-day home blood pressure (BP) variability, data are still limited. Thresholds of normality, target levels for treatment and optimal number and times of home measurement needed for better assessment of day-to-day home BP variability also remain to be investigated. Although further prospective studies are required, home BP is a strong and modifiable risk factor, and patient compliance should be encouraged.
