Abstract

SAP is a member of the phylogenetically conserved pentraxin protein family. This study describes isolation of CDNA clones for rat SAP from which the primary structure of this pentraxin has been determined. Rat SAP is 208 residues in length and a sex difference in expression of SAP mRNA in rat liver is documented. The structure and expression of rat SAP is compared with data from other species.
