Abstract
Purpose: This research seeks to enrich the knowledge of IT governance by investigating the alignment between implementation processes and culture influence.
Originality: By proposing an integrated model of ITG implementation success, this study investigates and conceptualizes not only the enablers of IT governance success but also the interaction between them. In particular, this is possibly the earliest study which considers and investigates the cultural influence on IT governance, especially in the Chinese culture context.
Key literature/theoretical perspective: This study provides a comprehensive review of the literature related IT governance, IT success, and IT-enabled business value through the lens of contingency theory and culture theory.
Design/methodology/approach: This research will also seek to adopt an empirical approach to validate the proposed model and hypotheses. The quantitative study consists of a pilot study for identifying the appropriateness of the scales and the main survey.
Findings: Based on the evolution of IT function in organizations, the relationships between IT governance and IT success, IT management, and corporate governance have been mapped, which lead to the identification of constructs of the model and appropriate theory lens.
Research limitations/implications: This research is expected to extend current IT governance theory in relation to different nations or cultural contexts. This research may be able to upgrade current IT success frameworks to an organizational strategy scope.
Practical and social implications: The research is expected to provide a series of suggestions for IT consultants, IT executives and stockholders of Chinese companies.
