Abstract
'Knit-face "toys" with the idea of the portrait in a pluralist society. A variety of handcrafted and well-loved knitted toys pose for a photographer. These characters are as diverse, imperfect and expressive as their human creators. The video plays with the idea of craft as a low-tech, inexpensive and accessible form of art, and aims to document the skills and aesthetic qualities of women's knitting works, which is, in our consumer age, a rare treasure. 30 sec digital video, produced and directed by: Janet Merewether.
