Abstract

This paper presents CSIRO's recent research activities and achievements in low-cost beamforming employing reconfigurable antennas. Two novel concepts and configurations, a beam switching quasi-Yagi antenna and a phased array antenna based on a reconfigurable defected microstrip structure for phase shifting, are described. Future research directions are also discussed.
