Abstract

Th is chapter explores the current state of microfi nance in Myanmar, looks at the legal framework that has allowed its expansion and shaped its form, and critiques the factors that continue to hold it back. Along the way recommendations are off ered to advance microfi nance in ways that will expand fi nancial inclusion in Myanmar and, as a consequence, contribute to achieving sustainable and inclusive economic development more broadly.
