Abstract

Provided herein are methods for enhancing the survival of neurons, for inhibiting denaturation of neurons, and for inhibiting abnormal protein accumulation in neurons, optionally motor neurons, the method comprises, consists of, or consists essentially of: increasing the level of cyclin F in the neuron regardless of the level or activity of the endogenous cyclin F of the neuron. Optionally, the neurons are in a subject suffering from or at risk of developing a neurodegenerative disease, typically a neurodegenerative disease associated with neuronal TDP-43 proteinopathy.
