Abstract
This article examines the erotic metaphors used to express desire in a collection of Uruguayan women's short stories. The metaphors used in the description of the act and in the representation of women's feeling surrounding the event are analysed in the light of Cixous' definition of desire. The article proves Cixous' theory that it is in taking off from desire that you will revive the need for things to really change and that if you permit woman's desire to be presented, everything else will follow, for it is one of the 'preconditions' of woman's arrival.
