Abstract
The first use of a frequency-doubled copper vapour laser to write fibre Bragg gratings is described. The peak reflectivity of these gratings is comparable to that obtained using a CW frequency-doubled argon laser of similar average power. Average UV powers > 2W enabled multiple, essentially identical gratings to be written simultaneously.
