Abstract
Spheroidal harmonics are used to construct a new formalism for electrostatic interactions between molecules in geometries with negligible orbital overlap. The spheroidal dipolar expression is shown to be superior in certain important respects to the conventional dipolar formula if either molecule is non-spherical in shape.
