Abstract
This systematic literature review synthesizes the multifaceted impact of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data, on consumer wellbeing. Analyzing 54 peer-reviewed articles, we develop a comprehensive, multi-level framework that defines consumer wellbeing across micro (individual health), meso (consumer-business interactions), and macro (societal benefits) dimensions. Our findings identify four primary antecedent categories - technology type, usage experience, user attributes, and usage environment - that influence these outcomes, revealing the dual nature of technology's impact, which can both enhance and detract from consumer welfare. By integrating fragmented findings into a cohesive conceptual model, this study clarifies dominant theoretical perspectives, identifies key mediators and moderators, and pinpoints critical research gaps. We conclude by proposing a future research agenda to guide scholarly inquiry in this rapidly evolving domain.
