Abstract

This paper presents two types of novel horn antennas realized as defects in EBG structures. A concept evanescent feeding of EBG horn antennas is introduced. An evanescently-fed EBG horn antenna operating in F band was designed and its Ku band scaled-up prototype was fabricated and measured. A solution for creating pyramidal EBG horn antennas with symmetrical radiation pattern in both E- and H-planes is introduced. A design of pyramidal horn antenna operating in F band is presented.
