Abstract

This paper describes the novel power combining strategy and measured performance of a 5 to 18 GHz non-uniform distributed power amplifier fabricated in a 0.15 μm commercial GaN process. The amplifier has 10 dB small-signal gain and produces 10 to 21 W output power with a PAE of up to 34% with good input and output match. Its output power is the highest reported output for similar well-matched broadband amplifiers.
