Abstract

Novel saturable absorbers based on carbon nanotubes, graphene, topological insulators, transition metal dichalcogenides and black phosphorus were fabricated and characterized. Their performance for short pulse generation in Tm:ZBLAN waveguide chip lasers was analyzed. For the first time to our knowledge, Q-switched mode-locked operation of a mid-IR ZBLAN waveguide chip laser was realized using topological insulators.
