Abstract
NSW.net is a new state-wide communications infrastructure designed to facilitate cost-effective access to the Internet and sharing of information for public libraries, local government and local communities in New South Wales. This article describes the background, progress to date and future plans for NSW.net and highlights strategic and practical issues arising from its planning and implementation. It is a revised and updated version of a paper presented at the 9th Biennial Victorian Association for Library Automation Conference and Exhibition, Melbourne, 28-30 January 1998.
