Abstract

Observation of optical vortex streets in walking second-harmonic generation was reported. Experiments were conducted in lithium triborate under conditions of small-efficiency second-harmonic generation pumped by nanosecond pulses at 1064 nm. Screw phase dislocations were nested in the pump beam by use of high-diffraction-efficiency computer-generated off-axis holograms. Results indicated that the pattern of vortices generated depended strongly on the exact material and input-light conditions.
