Abstract
Using a self-reflexive approach, this article tracks the ways in which the use of the English language simultaneously gives me the cultural currency to live, work and partake in the dominant ways of Australia and (sometimes) beyond, and also undermines my fluency with Tagalog and my familys language, Ilocano.
