Abstract

Optimal N-photon two-mode input states for interferometric phase measurements were derived. The derivation proved that realization of canonical measurement by counting photons in the outputs of the interferometer was not possible. A feedback algorithm was introduced based on Bayesian inference to control auxiliary phase shift.
