Abstract
This paper seeks to explore how entrepreneurs identify business opportunities and determine how they will manage the associated risk. While the current literature on entrepreneurship focuses on strategic (cognitive) approaches to understanding entrepreneurial behavior, we loosen the focus on cognition and also give attention to the role of magic, enchantment and mystery that exist as an organizational phenomenon in counterpoint to the often over articulated economically rational views within modern organizations. We draw on the concept of “organizational magical realism” as part of our research study. We are looking into experiences of arational phenomena by entrepreneurs or their arational beliefs, and the way the arational and rational aspects of life are reconciled in the context of contemporary entrepreneurial business.
