Abstract
Experimental investigations have shown that the output power of a laser diode can be dramatically affected by sub-wavelength variation in the external cavity length. Experimentally measured output powers for a short external cavity laser diode show that for small amounts of feedback, sub-wavelength changes in the cavity length lead to a sinusoidal variation in the output power.
