    Abstract

    The article focuses on the depiction of the experiences of outsiders and the abused in manga, which is a Japanese form of storytelling. It mentions that a range of social and psychological problems including school bullying, child abuse, and domestic violence are dramatised in manga. It adds that the representation of Japanese society is consists of a number of small groups and subgroups, which are depicted by political scientist Masao Maruyama as being like takotsubo.
