Abstract

The paper demonstrates a new compact approach for generating ultra-high frequency picosecond pulses based on an SBS frequency comb using only 40 cm of chalcogenide As2Se3 fiber. Bursts of pulses as short as 35 ps at 8 GHz repetition rate are obtained and an extinction ratio of over 60 %. The authors investigate the stability of the laser by measuring consecutive pulse bursts using a real time oscilloscope (RTSC).
