Abstract
The question of canonization of Ivo Andric in a context of South Slavic literatures is a problem of Literary history but also of Cultural Studies An important question in postcolonial positioning towards this problem is the one that includes the authors tactics of textual manipulation for his own idelogemes to be presented in a way originally intended. This is why I argue that it is important to disregard Barthes's thesis about the 'death of the author' and work on his intended manipulation of readers which may be done in order to suggest a particular reading that should be considered as 'objective: To decode these layers of the text in novel The Chronicle of Travnik is to read the text with constant reminder that it has been written in colonial environment and that most of the interpretations of this and
other Andric's texts have been produced in post-colonial situation.
