    Abstract

Consciuosness is a self–referential entity having self–awareness and awareness of the outside world, both specific for each subject. In the book, the authors evidence that such two basic properties of consciousness are reached by the basic formulation of Clifford algebric quantum mechanics and, at macroscopic level, by complexity and chaos theory. By using the Clifford basic quantum elements Conte demonstrates that we may realize a system having just such basic properties. These elements are arranged in our brain and, particularly, in the V1–V2–V3–V4 and A20 regions. Brain, consciousness and quantum mechanics have an element of fusion. The author, using Clifford algebra, demonstrated previously the logical origins of quantum mechanics and the basic fact that there are stages of our reality in which matter cannot considered by itself only but only in relation to the cognition we have about it. Extensively he considers all such elements in relation to quantum theory here including the process of wave function collapse in the case of systems having three non–commutating elements.
