Abstract

Results are presented of measurements of the heat flux in the Alboran Sea. The anomalous field in the basin, performance of a bathymetric survey with deep-water and multibeam echo-sounders, and sampling of bottom sediments with impact corers are investigated. Most of the investigation were performed along the same tacks as those in an earlier multichannel profiling study so as to maximize the objectivity of interpretation of the data. Particular attention was devoted to areas in which deep-sea drilling was scheduled for 1995.
