Abstract

Are children's perspectives of work a product of their experience? This exploratory study investigates the nature of the perspectives of work held by a sample of primary aged children in the UK and in Germany. It attempts to locate those perspectives within a social and cultural context defined by nationally, class and gender and to draw comparisons between the perspectives of UK and German children. The paper describes the background to the research project, the data collection methodologies employed and draws some preliminary conclusions before suggesting areas of further research.
