Abstract

In this paper, a printed planar antenna for 28GHz 5G millimeter wave (mmWave) applications is presented. The proposed antenna is designed using substrate material Rogers Ultralam 1250, having dimensions of 20mm × 20mm × 0.79mm. The design evolution has been discussed and optimized design parameters have been presents. Results shown that it exhibits wide bandwidth of 5.2GHz covering frequency range from 26.4-31.6 GHz, high gain up to 8dBi and radiation efficiency greater than 80% for the entire band. The proposed antenna is compared against existing literature, and is compact in size, low profile, simple in geometry and is suitable for 5G mmWave applications.
