Abstract
This book introduces and discusses the complex psychosocial aspects related to SCI and its management and rehabiliation. SCI results in devasting consequences, and SCI people need to draw upon their every available strength to cope sucessfully with their injury. The rehabilitation of SCI is also complex and costly, and there are many issues that need to be understood and addressed on the ward as well as into the long-term following their release into the community. This book will, therefore, present detail on all the pertinent issues that health professional need to be aware of when they deal with people who have suffered a SCI. Its purpose is also to assist healtHy professioanls improve their management techniques and introduce them to latest knowledge about how to best help SCI persons. Often competing books ignore the psychosocial factors, and this is a real deficit and ignorance of the psychological factors can impede rehabilitaion.
